In Spring 2014, after spending 20 years skateboarding & another 15 years working with youth, founder and visionary Matt "Atreau" Mercer started throwing arts-based community events in Oakland California. The idea was to combine his love for skateboarding, art, music, & all things creative with his love for empowering, teaching & working with young people. The first event- "Lively Up Yourself" at Oakland's local Skatepark "Town Park", featured local artists, musicians, & community leaders, who offered Skateboarding lessons, art workshops, musical performances, candle making & more. From there PYM began to provide after-school Skateboard Enrichment classes for local schools in the San Francisco Bay Area, shortly after, we began offering summer skateboarding camps for small groups. Since our inception, we've had 7 successful years of local Skateboarding classes, workshops, events, and summer camps. Including 3 international events in Kingston Jamaica, in 2017 & 2018.
